A proof for any capture – not only for photos.
Whatever a sensor records can be proven: a still image, a continuous video, an audio recording, a scan of a paper document, a signature being made. The proof always states the same five things. What differs is what completeness means.
One moment, one scene
The proof covers the single exposure: real scene, real moment, presence, stated level. The classic case for claims, handovers and inspections.
Every second of it
A recording is proven over its whole duration, from the first frame to the last. A cut, a pause, a replaced passage breaks the proof – the record either stands as a whole or not at all. For handover walk-arounds, inspections, bodycams and dashcams this is the decisive property.
Complete, real-time, with both parties present
Advisory calls, consent recordings and mandatory disclosures are proven as continuous recordings made at the stated time, in the presence of the stated devices. Nothing was inserted afterwards; nothing was removed.
The paper, the reading, the signature – as captured
A scan of a contract, a photo of a meter, a recording of a signature being made: the proof states that this physical document or event was in front of the sensor at that moment. It proves the origin of the capture, not the content of the document.
What a document signature proves – and what only a capture proof can add
Both are evidence. They answer different questions, and they work best together.
| Question | Signed document (PDF, qualified e-signature) | VeraCapt proof of real capture |
|---|---|---|
| Who approved this content? | Yes – the signer's identity and intent. | No – VeraCapt does not identify people. |
| Has the file changed since? | Yes – since the moment of signing. | Yes – since the moment of capture. |
| When did it happen? | Yes, with a qualified timestamp [7]. | Yes, with a qualified timestamp [7], always included. |
| Was the scanned paper a real, physical document? | No – a signature does not know what was in front of the scanner. | Yes – real scene, real moment, stated level. |
| Was the signature made now, by someone present? | Only for the digital act itself. | Yes – the physical act, as a witnessed capture. |
| Was the recording complete? | Not applicable. | Yes – for video and audio, over the whole duration. |
| Verifiable without the provider? | Yes, with public infrastructure. | Yes – open verifier, offline, free. |
VeraCapt does not replace a document signature, and we do not claim to be "more secure" than one. We prove the thing a signature cannot see: that the capture came from a real scene at a real moment. Sign the document – and prove the capture.
- Regulation (EU) 910/2014 (eIDAS), Article 41(2): a qualified electronic timestamp enjoys the presumption of accuracy of the date and time and of the integrity of the data.
