Motor claims and damage assessment

Recycled, edited and generated damage photos, reviewed by people who were never at the car.

The problem

Why the recording is the weak point

A photo of a photo. A dent from last year's claim. A generated scratch on a real bumper. Motor claims are settled on images, and images are the easiest thing in the file to fake.

Detection tools score suspicion after the fact and lose ground with every new generation of image models. The adjuster still has to decide.

> €6 bninsurance fraud per year in Germany; about half of suspicious claims are motor claims [1]
Scenario

A claim, from capture to settlement

Capture

The policyholder or the repair shop photographs the damage in the claims app. VeraCapt runs inside the app.

Proof

Each photo leaves the phone with a proof of real capture: real scene, real moment, stated level. A shop device can act as witness.

Decision

The claims handler sees the level next to the photo. Proven captures move straight to settlement; a claim without proof is routed to review – not rejected, but not paid on the image alone.

What the proof establishes

The proof shows
  • The damage photo was taken of a physical vehicle, not of a screen or print.
  • It was taken inside the stated time window, not recycled from an earlier claim.
  • The recording is complete – a walk-around video cannot be cut.
  • Any verifier, including the court, can check it offline.
Who decides and pays

Insurers, claims-management providers and assessor networks.

Typical level

Basic for routine claims, Witnessed when the repair shop or assessor is present, Certified for disputed or high-value claims.
