VeraCapt evidence is designed to be checked by an open verifier: offline, without an account, without a network connection, and without VeraCapt's involvement.
Receive the package
The photo or video comes with its evidence package – a small file, or embedded in the media container. Nothing else is needed.

The verifier is open software that works without a network connection. Its specification will be published with the general release.

Qualified timestamp included
Every proof carries a qualified electronic timestamp. Under EU law it enjoys the presumption of accuracy of date, time and integrity [7] – the one element with a legal presumption built in.
Long-term validity
Proofs are designed to remain verifiable for many years – long after the capture, and independent of us.
Open container
Proofs can travel inside the same open provenance container that newsrooms and camera makers already use. VeraCapt adds to that format; it does not replace it.
Free to verify
Issuing a proof is what we charge for. Checking one is free, for anyone, forever. Independence of the verifier is the point.
